Meet the Ladbrook UK Team: Patrick Johnson

Long-serving part of Ladbrook UK

When Patrick Johnson started his journey at Ladbrook Mfg in 1987, little did he know that his initial role as an Administration Clerk would be the first step towards leading the company into a future filled with innovation, growth, and community engagement. Spending his first six months in the factory, Patrick learned every role and met all the staff, laying a solid foundation of understanding and respect for the business and its people. His progression through the company—serving as Production Controller, Buyer, Purchasing Manager, Commercial Manager, General Manager, Works Director, and now Managing Director—mirrors not just a career trajectory but a strong commitment to the Ladbrook UK family and its values.

Cultivating a Culture of Integrity and Innovation

Under Patrick's leadership, Ladbrook UK has flourished, reflecting a company culture steeped in integrity, innovation, and a strong sense of community. Patrick believes in leading by example and supporting a work environment where open communication and collaboration are not just encouraged but lived daily. His leadership approach is inclusive, ensuring every team member feels valued and empowered to contribute their best.

Embracing Change and Leading Innovation

Innovation is at the heart of Ladbrook UK's operations. The recent expansion to a second site and investment in cutting-edge machinery like the LVD Laser 1, LVD Dynapress, and Easypress Pressbrakes show the businesses’ forward-thinking vision. This strategic move has increased efficiency, broadened the service offerings and positioned Ladbrook UK to lead in a competitive industry, bucking trends and pushing forward even in busy times.

Overcoming Challenges with Team Spirit

Reflecting on the past year, Patrick is particularly proud of the team's ability to navigate the significant challenge of expanding the company's facilities and integrating new technology - while doubling turnover and continuously meeting customer demands. This achievement highlights the strength of the team spirit and Patrick's leadership in encouraging a supportive and dynamic work environment.

Personal Growth Through Genuine Leadership

With over 35 years at Ladbrook UK, Patrick's leadership philosophy is grounded in honesty, fairness, and approachability. His advice to aspiring leaders is to invest in people, support them, and empower them to flourish in their roles. By maintaining an open-door policy, Patrick makes sure all staff members feel heard and valued, contributing to a connected and motivated team.

Life Beyond the Office

Outside his time with the team, Patrick is a family man with a passion for local sports and community engagement. Whether coaching local football teams, supporting his sons in rugby and cricket, or enjoying walks with Ronnie, the family Pug, Patrick's interests reflect his commitment to family, health, and community.

Supporting the Local Community

Ladbrook UK's active engagement in supporting local sports teams, events, and charities over the past 75 years is a source of pride for Patrick. He believes businesses have a key role in contributing to their local environments, creating a sense of community and shared success.
