Ladbrook Manufacturing Invests for Growth - Expanding Capacity and Capability

At Ladbrook Mfg, we’ve made a strategic move to invest in advanced manufacturing technologies and recently acquired a cutting-edge LVD fibre laser and two LVD press brakes, paired with comprehensive CADMAN software. This comes at a time when we have doubled turnover in the past two years and acquired additional premises to accommodate the expansion

Modernising Operations

The new equipment includes an LVD YSD LaserOne 4kW fibre laser, an 80-tonne Easy-Form hydraulic press brake, and a 40-tonne electric Dyna-Press, all supported by the Easy-Form adaptive angle measurement system. To complement these powerful machines we’ve integrated the CADMAN software suite, streamlining their design and manufacturing processes.

Diversification and Growth

Ladbrook Mfg has evolved from a high-volume press worker to a versatile sheet metal business. Commercial Director Michael Peake shares that “the venture into sheet metal fabrication about 15 years ago has paid off, now constituting a significant part of the company’s portfolio.” The reason for the recent investments was to address the burgeoning demand that had begun to outstrip the capabilities of their existing machinery.

Advanced Technology for Enhanced Efficiency

The decision to adopt LVD machinery and software was influenced by exceptional service and the potential for improved productivity and product quality. The LVD LaserOne offers a competitive entry-level investment cost that presents new manufacturing possibilities, including bringing previously subcontracted laser cutting in-house.

Consistency and Quality in Production

The addition of the LVD Easy-Form press brake and the electric Dyna-Press has allowed us to operate more flexibly, handling a variety of components from large panels to small brackets with unmatched precision, thanks to the Easy-Form adaptive bending technology.

Reducing Waste, Maximising Output

Operations Manager AJ Johnson highlights the significant reduction in waste with the new equipment, stating that “scrapped parts have been virtually eliminated during setup. The user-friendly touchscreen controls have further enhanced our operational efficiency, allowing for seamless transitions between machines.”

Software Integration: A Game Changer

The CADMAN suite has revolutionised the way we approach quoting and planning. The ability to import CAD files and generate accurate cost and time estimates has condensed days of work into mere hours, with Michael and AJ underlining the precision and speed of the new system.

Future-Proofing the Business

The implementation of CADMAN JOB and the Touch I-4 shop floor tablet will soon follow, setting the stage for real-time production control and workflow management. This infrastructure upgrade signals a transformative phase for Ladbrook Mfg, allowing for more innovative work and ensuring the company's competitive edge in the market.

Embracing Growth

With a leap from £1.6m to £3.3m in turnover, we’re poised for an even brighter future. The strategic investment in technology and the expansion into a second site for storage and warehousing demonstrate a commitment to efficiency and customer service, paving the way for sustained expansion and success.

Michael's closing thoughts resonate with optimism, as the “company's recent moves have not only addressed immediate space and capacity challenges but have also laid a robust foundation for ongoing growth and prosperity.”
