AJ Johnson’s Skydive for Remy’s Foundation
On the 30th of September, our Operations Manager, AJ Johnson, took to the skies for a daring skydive over the iconic Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. But this wasn’t just an adventure for AJ; it was a heartfelt tribute in memory of his cousin, Remy, and a way to raise vital funds for Remy’s Foundation. AJ rose to the challenge and, as a result, raised an incredible £2,600 for this important cause close to his and the wider Ladbrook UK team’s hearts.
Why the Palm in Dubai?
Choosing Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah as the location for the skydive was no coincidence. Dubai was one of Remy’s favourite holiday destinations, making it the perfect place to honour his memory. Not usually a fan of heights, AJ said, “The views were incredible, and I loved every minute of it.” The skydive wasn't only a personal challenge for AJ; it was a meaningful way to honour the many memories he shared with Remy.
Supporting Remy’s Foundation
Remy’s Foundation was established after the tragic passing of AJ’s 7-year-old cousin Remy Johnson in 2022. Remy had undergone major heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital, but there were complications, and, sadly, he passed away. The foundation now supports families in similar situations by providing essential equipment, help with accommodation, and funding for important research at Great Ormond Street.
For AJ, supporting Remy’s Foundation is a personal mission. “The foundation means a lot to me, and it’s amazing to see so many people continuously backing this cause,” he says. Every donation goes towards making a real difference in the lives of children and families in need.
Surpassing the goal
AJ set a fundraising target of £1,000, but thanks to a lot of support and testament to how highly thought of AJ and his family are in the local community, he hit his target more than two and a half times over. “I never expected to reach £1,000, let alone £2,600!”, AJ says, reflecting on the generosity of everyone who contributed.
“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for their incredibly kind donations. It’s greatly appreciated by myself and all the family,” AJ adds. The funds raised will go directly towards helping Great Ormond Street Hospital and continuing Remy’s Foundation’s mission to support families facing critical health challenges.
Take the challenge
Now that the skydive is complete, AJ is encouraging others to take up similar challenges for causes close to their hearts. “I would 100% recommend a skydive to anyone. The adrenaline is incredible,” AJ shares. Not only was it a personal achievement, but it was also a great way to raise awareness and funds for something that truly matters.
If you’d like to continue supporting Remy’s Foundation and the amazing work it’s doing, AJ’s fundraising page is still open for contributions. Every donation helps, no matter the size, and it all goes towards helping those in need.
